How to Apply for Ontario PNP Nomination

Applying for an Ontario PNP nomination and permanent residence involves two distinct processes:

  • Ontario PNP Nomination: The Ontario Government evaluates your provincial nomination application. If accepted, you will receive a nomination that allows you to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
  • Permanent Residence Application: After receiving a provincial nomination, you must apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

  • Application Process: The provincial nomination process can be complex, and errors may lead to rejection. Ensure all details are accurate and complete to avoid delays.
  • Processing Time: The time required for processing varies based on factors like application volume, case complexity, and documentation completeness. Prepare your profile in advance to minimize delays.
  • Stream-Specific Requirements: Each stream under the Ontario PNP has unique processes and requirements. Verify your eligibility for the specific stream before applying.

Ontario PNP Nomination Requirements

  • Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for the OINP stream you wish to apply for. The Ontario immigration department sets specific point criteria for each stream.

  • Prepare Documentation: Gather and prepare all necessary documents for your application. A well-organized document kit can prevent last-minute issues and delays in processing.

  • Apply for Nomination: Create an Express Entry profile and, if you have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 or higher, you may apply for a provincial nomination from Ontario. Successful nominees receive 600 additional CRS points, significantly boosting their chances of receiving a Notification of Interest (NOI) in the next OINP draw.

  • Apply for Permanent Residence: Once invited to apply, submit your application for permanent residence through Express Entry. You will have 60 days to submit your PR application.

  • Move to Ontario: After receiving your PR visa, prepare for your move to Ontario. Ensure you bring all relevant documents, including passports, identification, fitness and character certificates.
