Quebec Skilled Worker Program: A Pathway to Canadian Permanent Residence with TIC Visas

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) offers eligible candidates an opportunity to secure Canadian permanent residence. Quebec, unique among Canadian provinces, has a special agreement with the federal government granting it significant autonomy in its immigration policies and procedures. As a result, Quebec’s immigration programs, including the QSWP, are managed independently from those of other provinces.

Eligibility for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program

To qualify for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, applicants must obtain a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) by scoring sufficient points based on a set of selection factors. Once they have the CSQ, they can apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence. During this process, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will conduct medical and criminal background checks.

Points System

Applicants are evaluated based on several selection factors. A single applicant must score at least 50 points, while an applicant with a spouse or common-law partner must score at least 59 points. The selection factors include:

  • Education: Points are awarded based on the level of education and area of training.
  • Work Experience: Points are given for the number of years of professional work experience.
  • Age: Younger applicants typically receive more points.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in French is particularly important, but English language skills are also considered.
  • Stay and Family in Quebec: Points are awarded if the applicant has previously stayed in Quebec or has family in the province.
  • Validated Job Offer: Extra points can be earned if the applicant has a validated job offer from an employer in Quebec.
  • Spouse’s Characteristics: If applicable, the spouse’s education, work experience, age, and language skills are also considered.
  • Children: Points are awarded if the applicant has children under the age of 22 who will be immigrating with them.
  • Financial Self-Sufficiency: Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to support themselves and their family after arriving in Quebec.

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program, managed by TIC Visas, is designed to attract skilled workers who can contribute to Quebec’s economy and integrate successfully into the province. Partner with TIC Visas to navigate the QSWP and start your journey toward Canadian permanent residence.
